NATURA 2000 Environmental Impact Assessment

 If plans and projects are located close to or affect NATURA 2000 sites, the instrument of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is required. As a first step, a preliminary assessment is usually carried out on the basis of available documents to determine whether the planned projects and plans have an adverse effect on the key components of the conservation objectives of the NATURA 2000 site.

If this is possibly the case, i.e. impairments cannot be ruled out in principle, the compatibility assessment must be carried out in a further step.
